PURPOSE STATEMENT OF THE SAN DIEGO ALL-STAR CLOWNS The San Diego All-Star Clowns performs at health related fund raising events. We appear in most parades in the San Diego area. During National Clown Week, August 1st to 7th, we often have two events per day in the San Diego Community. The purpose of National Clown week is to promote the art of clowning. We meet the 1st Sunday of each month at the American Legion Hall #460 7815 Armour St, San Diego, Ca. 6pm for the executive board meeting, 630pm membership meeting 7pm for the education portion of the meeting. The exception to this is when there is a holiday weekend, then we meet the 2nd Sunday. Also we have a picnic at De Anza cove the 1st Sunday of July. In August we meet everyday at various locations for National Clown Week. The San Diego All-Star Clowns offers clown classes annually if we have a minimum of 5 students. Our classes cover history of clowning, ethics of clowning, makeup, costuming, types of clowns, character development, hospital clowning, parade clowning, face painting, balloon twisting, mime, face painting, skits and more.
Our dues pay primarily for the Clown Crier (our monthly newsletter) and badges for new members that complete probation. Dues should be paid July or before. An individual's rate is $20. A family rate is $30 (only one clown crier issued per family). Seniors 55+ rate is $10 per year. Payments for dues may be given to the treasurer at meetings. Probation members must complete the following to become voting members of the San Diego All-Star Clowns. 1) one parade 2) one hospital visit 3-5) three club events. A total of 5 events and attend 3 club meetings after appropriate training.
